Jamming and Fading Channels Mitigation Using Anti-Jamming Advanced Frequency Hopping

چکیده
Performance degradation caused by channel dispersion can be mitigated using avoidance techniques such as frequency hopping spread spectrum. Adaptive frequency hopping techniques such as matched frequency hopping (MFH), clipped matched frequency hopping (CMFH) and advanced frequency hopping (AFH) have been introduced as efficient techniques in slowly fading dispersive channels. These techniques work by adaptively selecting a subset of frequencies over which hopping is performed, in an attempt to avoid severely attenuated frequencies. This paper contains a comparison of the performance of these techniques when smart jamming signals interfere with the transmission in addition to frequency selective fading. Modifications to these techniques are then proposed that provide greater resilience to jamming. In particular, the proposed anti-jamming advanced frequency hopping (AJAFH) technique is shown to be very effective in jamming environments, providing much higher throughput than the existing techniques.

Reinforcement Learning for Reactive Jamming Mitigation
In this paper, we propose a strategy to avoid or mitigate reactive forms of jamming using a reinforcement learning approach. The mitigation strategy focuses on finding an effective channel hopping and idling pattern to maximize link throughput. Thus, the strategy is well-suited for frequency-hopping spread spectrum systems, and best performs in tandem with a channel selection algorithm. By usin...

متن کاملAnti-Jamming Frequency Hopping Techniques for Secure Multicast Communications
We address the problem of jamming mitigation of multicast communications in multi-channel ad hoc networks. Specifically, we develop two frequency hopping (FH) techniques for establishing multicast communications. These techniques, denoted by KFH and CFH, address the two following problems. First, establishing multicast communications in the presence of a control-channel jamming attack. Second, ...

متن کاملFrequency hopping does not increase anti-jamming resilience of wireless channels
The effectiveness of frequency hopping for antijamming protection of wireless channels is analyzed from an information-theoretic perspective. The sender can input its symbols into one of several frequency subbands at a time. Each subband channel is modeled as an additive noise channel. No common randomness between sender and receiver is assumed. It is shown that capacity is positive, and then e...
